Pottery Barn Inspired Glitter Eggs...with Time-Saving Cheat!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Glitter Eggs CheatHave I got a fun and easy Easter project for you…my Pottery Barn inspired glitter eggs! And I did it in almost no time because I cheated! Let me walk you through the steps and I will share my secret! You are not going to believe it, it’s sooo easy!

Pottery Barn German Glitter Eggs Here’s my inspiration…Pottery Barn German glitter eggs. Sadly, they are no longer available, but that’s OK because I am going to make my own. And…I am going to use brighter colors as well. However, notice that the eggs are in two different sizes…small and large. You will see why that’s important in a moment.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Glitter Eggs supplies Here’s what you will need:
  • Several colors of fine glitter (Mine came from Hobby Lobby)
  • White glitter
  • Mod Podge
  • Flat brush
  • Small bowl
  • Spoon
  • Small plastic eggs (Mine came in a pack of 24 from Dollar Tree)
  • Wax paper

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Glitter Eggs And here’s what you will do:
  1. Mix the colored glitter with the white in a small bowl…1 part color, 2 parts white. This will give it a little more sparkle and texture.
  2. Choose an egg that is roughly the same color as the glitter you will use. Make sure it is firmly closed.
  3. Paint the egg with a layer of Mod Podge and place it in the bowl of glitter.
  4. Spoon the glitter over the egg until it is completely covered.
  5. Using the spoon, remove the egg from the bowl and place on wax paper to dry.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Glitter Eggs The larger glitter eggs came from Walmart! Yep…Walmart...so they were no work whatsoever! I just opened the package and taaa daaa! When I spied these babies, I knew I had just cut my work in half! I mean…why reinvent the wheel?

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Pottery Barn Inspired Glitter Eggs Just mix them in with your handmade glitter eggs and who can tell? Gotta love easy!

I love them! The jewel-tone colors are going to add so much pizzazz to my Easter décor! And it hardly took any time at all to create this look!

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT Botanical Découpage Eggs And just in case you are looking for a few more ways to decorate your Easter eggs, here are my botanical découpage eggs…made with plastic eggs and pretty napkins! You’ll find a complete tutorial here.

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT French Découpage Eggs And to add a little bit of a frenchy touch, here are my French découpage eggs, including one with an image of Notre Dame cathedral! You will find the directions here.

KittyAnd Miss Kitty is reminding me that we also made a very different kind of Easter egg…using something unusual to decorate real eggs…

CONFESSIONS OF A PLATE ADDICT {Silk Tie} Dyed EggsSilk ties! Yes, you can actually transfer the dye from the silk ties to a real egg! You will find the instructions here.
And stay tuned…because I am working on a fun way to display your eggs, too!

Remember to pin it!

  4. I saw those glitter eggs back at Pottery Barn in February and I didn't buy them because I wasn't in the Easter mood... then I tried to buy them later and found out they were sold out! I thought about making my own but frankly, I was too lazy to figure out how to do it then execute it... but you did it instead! Yours look wonderful!! Saving this for next Easter!
