At the Country Living Fair

Woo hoo! This past Friday I got to mark a little something off my bucket list! I went to the Country Living Fair in Stone Mountain, Georgia…sooo much fun! Want to come along and check out my favorites?

Of course, you must stop by the famous pumpkin tower! Don’t you love the assortment of sizes, shapes and colors?

Then we headed into the General Store where there was a display of pretty fall centerpieces…

…and seasonal tablescapes. Love those unusual bark chargers! And, no, you can’t use pencils as utensils, but they do add some rustic country charm!

Now off to shop! I loved this pretty soap! Wish you could smell it!

And there were piles of fabulous vintage goodies like these old clocks that were missing their works…

…and these great vintage printing press letters…

…this collection of tin tart molds…

…and these old-fashioned tin Santa molds! I loved these because this Santa looks more like the French Père Noël but I wasn’t willing to wait in line to buy one. The Christmas booths were really popular!

And speaking of Christmas, how about a tree made from reclaimed bead board?

If you know me, you know I love sheep and goats so I lingered for a few minutes checking out this life-size sheep! Hey…my HOA would let me have this one! I’m not sure if the little friend that was crawling around on his head came with him!

I loved this vintage rocking doggy but my little grands are really too big for it now. However, I did see it later being lovingly carried away by another grandmother…to a good home, I am sure!

I really wanted these…fabulous frenchy legs just waiting for a table top…but there’s no space for another table in my house!

And there were other bits of frenchiness scattered around the fair as well!

But I don’t think you will be surprised when I show you what came home with me…a gorgeous pair of earrings made from my favorite grapey vintage silverplate flatware pattern from juNxtaposition…and a fabulous little Quimper dish…

…from Cari Cucksey  (in the purple scarf) of HGTV’s Cash and Cari! Woo hoo! One of my favorite TV stars! :-) What fun!

And I also came away with some farmhouse-y galvanized sap buckets, too! But best of all, I had a great time hanging out with my friends…(l to r) my BFF Nan, moi, and fellow blogger Barb from The Everyday Home! Only thing missing…I didn’t eat a funnel cake! Maybe next time!

This week I'm "hosting a host". Our guest host joining us this week is the beautiful Suzy of  Worthing Court. She's going to tell you a little bit about her blog and pick out our featured links from the party last week.

Hi everyone!  My name is Suzy and I blog at Worthing Court.

I'm a Southern girl living right smack in the middle of North Carolina.  My goal at Worthing Court is is to inspire others to beautify their surroundings and their lives by sharing home decor, decorating tips and how-to's, diy projects, crafts, recipes and more.

I'll start with Debbie at Painted Therapy who repurposed a piece of furniture and created this fabulous bench.

Go check it out.  You won't believe what it started out as.

Duane at Cottage In The Oaks put together a wonderful center for beverages that will take them all the way through the winter. 

Note to self - must get a tiered galvanized metal stand. 

Krista from The Happy Housie created a unique and cute door hanging for Halloween.

You''ll want to take a look at the rest of her cute Halloween porch too.

If you're looking for a super easy appetizer or snack for Fall, you'll want to grab this recipe from Linda at Crafts A La Mode.

You'll be surprised at what I call the secret ingredient.  Definitely gonna try this one.

Tammy at One More Time Events shares a great idea for displaying and serving Fall and Thanksgiving dishes.

Now I need to go cut down a tree.  lol

Over at Number Fifty-Three, Angela has been steadily working to give new life to her oak cabinet filled kitchen.

I love the eclectic modern, country look that she's putting together.

October in White

I am very much a traditionalist when it comes to holidays. Christmas is red and green. Halloween is black and orange. But lately, I have been seeing more and more of an unusual color, or unusual to me, showing up in seasonal decor…for fall and even Halloween...and it is white! I am really starting to warm up to it, too! Sooo… I grabbed some great examples of white in October décor, crafts and recipes from The Scoop this week and I am going to share them with you.

 Tarnished Royalty shows us how to create this fabulous pearl mask…gorgeous!

Southern Home Sweet Home shared her hutch filled with a few little seasonal accents scattered among her white china collection. You know I am eyeing her tureen and the fabulous handles on those coffee pots and pitchers!

This rustic glam dresser from Number Fifty-Three sports some very subtle, yet spooky Halloween décor!

This mostly-white mantel from So Much Better with Age has the just-right combination of spooky and vintage.

And of course, we can’t talk about October whites without some ghosts! Simply Suzanne’s shows us how she makes Halloween special for her kids…including these Halloween Peeps! Whaaaat? There are Halloween Peeps? I’m off to the store!

Aren’t these cute? A Few Miner Adjustments shares her “Three Amighosts” made from scrap wood!

Crafty Journal always wows us with her cute seasonal crafts…and you’ve gotta love this mummified can! My little grands would adore this one!

And speaking of mummies…Salmagundi broke in her new kitchen by making mummy cookies with the grandkids…mess and all! My kind of grandma!

And here’s everybody’s favorite cookie turned into a cupcake…and with vanilla frosting to boot!  Confessions of an ADD Housewife shows us how to make her Snickerdoodle Cupcakes!

Having lived in France, I think of fall as the season for gathering and cooking wild mushrooms, so I love these fabulous little gems…mushroom-shaped gingerbread cookies from Twigg Studios!

Purple Hues and Me has me scouring thrift stores for old boots so I can create her whimsical planter…a cherished gift from a childhood friend!

Creative Passage has a little different twist on the sweater pumpkin. Head over to see how she created those cute stems!

 Calypso in the Country’s fall tablescape stars cute little baby boo pumpkins…

…as does Junk Chic Cottage’s fall vignette! Love that chippy bench!

And of course, if we are sharing white pumpkins, we must have a book page pumpkin! As the Card Rack Turns shows us hers…so clever!

And I can't forget my super-easy Country Living inspired ghosts!  It only took about five minutes to make them and I love the little spooky but not-too-scary look they add to my front porch! You can see how I made them here.
